08 September 2015 – Derry~Londonderry employer, DuPont, hosted a delegation of twenty-five key personnel from DuPont Protection Technologies at their Maydown site. They were here to review the best practices in operation at the facility and to develop a world-wide business strategy for 2016, and beyond.

The DuPont Protection Technologies Global Kevlar ® Business Leadership Team, with representatives from U.S.A., Europe and Asia, enjoyed a series of events across the City, including a special reception at the Guildhall, hosted by the Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Council, Elisha McCallion.

Maydown Plant Manager, Petra Grashoff, praised the City of Derry and its people, she said: “Most of our delegates had never been to Derry~Londonderry before so they had no idea what to expect but they were very impressed. The feedback they gave us couldn’t have been better as they recognised the advances made at Maydown, the excellence of the workforce and the viability of the region as a key business hub.”

Petra continued: “The delegates enjoyed a week-long series of events including a special evening at the Guildhall, which was hosted by the Mayor. We are so happy that the professionalism and excellence of the Maydown teams, and the wonderful City of Derry, helped to make the visit a memorable one that will bode well for our business.”

Rose Lee from DuPont Protection Technologies, said: “The thoughtfulness of the Maydown team has enabled us to conduct many valuable discussions in comfortable settings as we develop overall plans for 2016. It was especially nice to learn more about the Maydown site, the people who work there and the culture of the region. Following our trip we now have numerous key learnings to discuss with colleagues at our sites across the world.”
