AT this time of year, many people across the country will be scratching their heads or tearing their hair out over what would make a good last-minute Christmas present for their loved ones.
Well if that special person happens to be a golf fan, then The European Tour claims to have the par-fect solution in the form of a ‘festive’ season ticket for next year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open which takes place on May 19-22 at the K Club in County Kildare and is once again hosted by Rory McIlroy’s charitable foundation.
So instead of scoring a bogey with another pair of socks or a bad Christmas jumper, shoppers can snap up a ticket for the event for just €30 per day – with an absolutely tee-mendous value ‘season ticket’ for the entire event available for just €70 (a saving of at least €50 over the course of the full four days).
Once again, children under 16 can watch the action for free if accompanied by an adult and concession tickets are available at just €20 per day or €50 for the season ticket.
Advance tickets, which are significantly cheaper than paying at the gate, can be purchased at www.dubaidutyfreeirishopen.com or www.tickets.europeantour.com and for the first time, a portion of all sales will go directly to the Rory Foundation, which supports children’s charities around the world.
“It’s often so difficult to find a unique Christmas present for loved ones,” said Antonia Beggs of The European Tour, “so we feel that this chance to see some of golf’s greatest players in action and to soak up the amazing atmosphere of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will be just the ticket, and will give the lucky recipient something to look forward to for months after Christmas.
“And it’s not just for hard-core golf fans as a trip to the Irish Open is a great day out for all the family with lots to do in the tented village and surrounding areas, besides watching the action at the K Club and catching a glimpse of your golfing heroes,” she added.
“Finally, we’re delighted that a portion of all ticket sales will go directly to the Rory Foundation,” concluded Antonia. “It’s simple – the more tickets we sell for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the more money we will raise for the Foundation so it would be fantastic to see people really getting behind the tournament and buying their tickets early.”
This year’s tournament at Royal County Down was a complete sell-out with many of world’s best players, including Rickie Fowler, Martin Kaymer, Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald, competing against tournament host Rory McIlroy and other home grown favourites Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and current European Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open crown.
With a record prize fund of €4.5 million on offer, the 2016 event promises to be another tournament to remember as it makes its first ever appearance at the world famous K Club, in a year that marks the 10th anniversary since the County Kildare course hosted Europe’s memorable victory over the USA in the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Situated in 550 acres of rolling County Kildare countryside, the K Club is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Ireland and its proximity to the M50 motorway means that it’s easily accessible for golf fans from all over the country, and for anyone travelling from Northern Ireland too. So, unlike the competing golfers, spectators’ driving skills won’t be put to the test.
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open 2016 is also supported by the Irish Government under the auspices of the Failte Ireland and Sport Ireland.
