Respond Healthcare, Northern Ireland’s leading independent supplier of stoma and continence prescription services has moved to new, larger premises in Larne.  Respond Healthcare has been providing a province-wide service from its Larne base for the last 25 years and the new offices on Curran Road will provide Respond Healthcare with a range of enhanced customer services and warehousing facilities including a dedicated bespoke Nursing Clinic area.

In Northern Ireland there are approximately 10,000 people living with stomas at any one time with around 1,000 new cases every year spread across all of the healthcare trusts.

Respond Healthcare operates 8 DACs (Dispensing Appliance Contractors) across the UK including Larne.  In 2014, the business was acquired by Comber-based Eakin Healthcare Group, one of the world’s leading medical device manufacturing and distributors of stoma and wound care products.

At the end of 2017, Respond Healthcare’s Larne-based team was awarded the ‘Best Contribution to the Community’ BHTA award for the work it carries out supporting the stoma community across Northern Ireland.  The British Healthcare Trades Association is made up of almost 500 companies employing over 17,000 people who make or sell healthcare and assistive technology products that help people live more independently.

Speaking at the official opening of the new office in Larne, Paul Eakin, UK CEO Eakin Healthcare Group said: “Today’s infrastructure investment marks an important milestone for the development of Respond Healthcare services in Northern Ireland.  Since Eakin Healthcare Group acquired the business in 2014, we have seen strong year on year growth both in the size of our client base as well as the range of services we provide so are delighted to have been able to find a suitable location in Larne to be able to move our expanding business into.”

Paul Eakin added: “The integration of the Respond Healthcare business across the UK into Eakin Healthcare Group has been a significant success for us over the last four years and we will continue to provide the very highest level of customer care and support we can here in Northern Ireland and across other regions of the UK with our dedicated and highly experienced nursing and healthcare professionals.”
